Who we are
Mise is a meal-planning and grocery-shopping service. In this policy, “Mise,” “we,” and “us” refer to the operator of miseapp.io and the Mise mobile application.
Information we collect
Account information, such as your email address, authentication identifiers, and the basic profile information you choose to share through Google or Apple sign-in.
Nutrition and wellness information you provide, which may include age, sex used for metabolic equations, height, weight, activity, training frequency, pregnancy or breastfeeding status, dietary preferences, food preferences, nutrition targets, meal logs, weight entries, and check-ins.
Location and shopping information, such as a ZIP code, a selected store, shopping-list activity, products, and prices. Some restaurant features may use your device location when you grant permission.
Content you submit, such as recipe links, captions, text, photos, screenshots, videos, audio or transcripts, recipe edits, feedback, and support messages.
Technical information generated when you use Mise, such as IP address, device and browser details, request timing, diagnostics, security events, and product analytics events described below.
How we use information
We use information to authenticate you; calculate nutrition estimates; create and personalize meals, recipes, and shopping lists; locate nearby stores or restaurants; process recipe imports; maintain and secure Mise; troubleshoot problems; communicate with you; and improve the product.
Mise provides planning and informational tools, not medical care. Nutrition estimates are based on information you provide and should not be treated as medical advice or as verified measurements.
AI processing and model training
Some Mise features send submitted content to OpenRouter and model providers available through it. This can include recipe text, webpage text, captions, images, video stills, audio or transcripts, custom recipe details, and food photos. These services process the content to extract recipes, transcribe media, understand food, or generate internal image prompts.
OpenRouter states that it does not retain prompts or responses by default, but it retains limited request metadata. Model providers have their own retention, logging, training, and product-improvement practices. Mise currently uses models that may include Meta’s Muse Spark 1.3 Contributor and Google Gemini. OpenRouter identifies Muse Spark 1.3 Contributor as a model whose prompts and outputs may be used to improve Meta’s products.
Do not submit confidential information, medical records, or other sensitive content to an AI-powered feature unless you are comfortable with this processing. We may change model providers as the product evolves, and this policy will be updated when a change materially affects your privacy.
Product analytics
The Mise iOS app uses PostHog to measure how the product is used. Analytics events are limited to a fixed list of product actions, such as completing an onboarding step, generating a week, swapping a meal, finishing a shopping list, declaring pantry staples, or saving a food log entry, together with device, app version, and session information.
Analytics events never include the text of food notes, nutrition values, recipe or ingredient contents, photos, or the specific foods you rate. Events are associated with your account identifier after you sign in and are anonymous before that. Session recording and automatic screen capture are turned off.
PostHog processes this information on our behalf on servers in the United States under its own privacy policy, linked below. We use analytics to understand which features are used and to improve Mise, not for advertising.
When we share information
We share information only as needed to operate Mise, comply with law, protect people and the service, or complete a business transaction. Service providers may include Supabase for authentication, database, and file storage; Vercel for hosting; OpenRouter and downstream AI model providers; Google services for sign-in, places, and AI processing; Apple for sign-in; Stripe for payment processing; PostHog for product analytics; and retailer or product-data services used to find stores, products, and prices.
Payment card details are handled by Stripe rather than stored directly by Mise. Publicly submitted recipes may display limited source attribution, such as the original link or creator name, after review. Private source evidence is not intended to be published with the recipe.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We do not use Google sign-in data for advertising. Mise’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Storage and retention
Some setup information may remain only on your device until you create an account or use a connected feature. Account, profile, planning, recipe, and activity data may be stored by Mise and its service providers for as long as needed to provide the service, protect it, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
Deleting the app does not necessarily delete information stored with your account or by service providers. To request access, correction, or deletion, contact us at the address below. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where the law permits or requires it.
Your choices
You can decline device permissions, avoid AI-powered features, edit certain profile and planning information, reset locally stored onboarding answers, or stop using Mise. You may also request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information by contacting us. Available privacy rights vary by location.
Security, children, and changes
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, but no system is completely secure. Mise is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
We may update this policy as Mise changes. We will post the revised policy here and update its effective date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice when reasonably appropriate.
